The Robert M. Krughoff Pickleball Center at Garfield Park

The Robert M. Krughoff Pickleball Center at Garfield Park is one of the most popular places to play pickleball in Washington, DC. There are 5 outdoor asphalt courts. These are dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets. Reservations are not available. The courts are free. The facility includes amenities like food, restrooms, and water. An urban open-space pickleball home in Capitol Hill—convenient, lively, and built for community. You’ll find urban street art nearby, and the area offers plenty to do before or after play, including tennis courts, volleyball courts, and a playground. We’re also near a dog park, so you may see pups and their people. Drop-off point is the intersection of H St, 2nd St, & Virginia Ave SE. **Courts & setup** The courts are on a DC-permitted, unused road converted into a dedicated pickleball setting with five professionally painted courts on a tennis surface. Semi-permanent nets are out for play at all times. We hope to have court partitions up soon to help keep balls in check. Play at your own risk due to a nearby wall and curbs. Hours & ambassadors (as of August 1st) The center is open dawn to dusk. Court ambassadors are on-site to help with questions and setup during Open Play, which runs daily 9AM–noon and 5–8PM. Restrooms nearby There’s no restroom on-site, but Whole Foods is about a 5-minute walk away and has restrooms. **Inclusive community, all levels welcome** We’re focused on inclusivity for all players at all levels, ages 10 and up (unless otherwise arranged). Our standard play format is 4-on / 4-off doubles at all times. Other posted guidelines cover safety, pets, and fair play. **Get connected / how to join** Recurrent players coordinate via **TeamReach** (group code GPPB). When you arrive, please follow the posted on-site guidelines and ambassador directions so everyone can rotate smoothly. **Building community (and helping each other play)** We want this to be a place where people show up and also work with others—especially when all five courts are in use or when groups are stacking paddles on the sideline. We ask everyone to be ready to **connect with other groups**, keep play flowing, and welcome new teammates whenever the opportunity comes up. **Coaching** For-fee coaching may become available in the Fall.
